Charlotte Despard 2015 update

Morning all, 

Not posted in a while so here is a massive update on the up and coming events thru January, February and into March 2015.

Before we do - Massive thanks to all who helped us make 2014 a great year. Thanks to all our suppliers, staff and customers. The Charlotte Despard loves you.

The Quiz prize has just gone up and up - it's our biggest ever prize - currently £240

Tuesday's are getting busier and busier - It's always wise to book a table.

Pool Competition in full swing - 2nd round is on - Practice is fervent at the moment.

Backgammon Tournament being arranged by Amber - Leave your name at the bar if you're good enough !!

Super Scrabble & Cards Against Humanity are now behind the bar - just ask.

Music Themed Pub Quiz Tuesday

Music Quiz

This Tuesday's quiz is a music themed affair.

Tunes to identify, Peoples faces from the music industry to recognise and a whole heap of questions too.

It all kicks off around 8.30pm and it's completely FREE

Sweety and boozy prizes for round winners.

Quiz Winners will recieve a bottle of Prosecco and the chance to play for 130 quid.

Not bad on a Tuesday night.

If I can just have everyone’s attention please…
This won’t take long then rice & peas

It’s our 3rd birthday and you’ve all come to see
Our fabulous pub as she turns into three

The party began and the beers flowing steady
So I think it is time – if everyone’s ready?
To set sail on a journey flying through kites
Remembering fondly the fuzzy highlights

So, with a deep cough to clear my throat
As we don’t have time for ceremonial goat
We salute some of our punters with lyrical jam
And gifts that are better than Green eggs & ham

The first and best deserves a big kiss
She makes us all dance in heavenly bliss
Our amazing selector – y’all know who she is
All hands together – because WE LOVE YOU LIZ!

Now for the genius, a gent in every way
He’s rocked this house as I’m sure he will today
The Cat in the Hat with a funky beat

Halloween Party

Like many other holidays, Halloween has evolved and changed throughout history. Over 2,000 years ago people called the Celts lived in what is now Ireland, the UK, and parts of Northern France. November 1 was their New Year's Day. They believed that the night before the New Year (October 31) was a time when the living and the dead came together.

 More than a thousand years ago the Christian church named November 1 All Saints Day (also called All Hallows.) This was a special holy day to honour the saints and other people who died for their religion. The night before All Hallows was called Hallows Eve. Later the name was changed to Halloween.

Like the Celts, the Europeans of that time also believed that the spirits of the dead would visit the earth on Halloween. They worried that evil spirits would cause problems or hurt them. So on that night people wore costumes that looked like ghosts or other evil creatures. They thought if they dressed like that, the spirits would think they were also dead and not harm them.

 So - we are gonna have a massive Hallowe'en Ball - Full Fancy Dress & DJ's

It is 20 months since we opened. And I think we can say we have almost achieved everything we set out to do.

Thanks to All our loyal customers who support our community Pub.

• We have: 4 London Ales on tap, 3 Draught Imported Lagers, 3 Draught Wheat beers, 2 Draught Ciders.
• We have: 18 Amazing World wines, 60 Premium Bottled Beers, 12 Premium Bottled Ciders.
• We have: A Spirit range to die for. A fridge dedicated to quality soft drinks and mixers. Tasty Snacks.
• We have: A Pool table, Darts board, Board games, small library and even a Wii - 

• Installed fixtures: DJ Liz Wheatley 1st Saturday of every month, Pool Competition on a Monday night, QUIZ - every Tuesday,.
• Recentley: Redemption Brewery popped in for a Meet the Brewer - which was fantastic, Wine tastings, Beer tastings, as we get them -
